Operation Fresh Air

Since 2007, Operation Fresh Air has provided families of wounded soldiers and Marines from Walter Reed RAMC and Bethesda NH with the opportunity to escape from the hospital wards for an afternoon. In partnership with other local groups who support military veterans we offer great food, sunshine, fun and games, fishing, live music, boat rides, and above all the chance to relax and forget your cares in a beautiful wooded park setting.

All fishing equipment is provided along with an enthusiastic cadre of expert fisherman, so no experience is required! We offer both day and evening events.


2009 Operation Fresh Air dates:

	June 21: Operation Fresh Air at Leesylvania State Park in Woodbridge, Virginia
	July 25: Operation Fresh Air at Lunga Park in Quantico, Virginia
	October 3: Operation Fresh Air at Lunga Park in Quantico, Virginia

Many Hands Alliance

Do you run a military-oriented non-profit or social group? Have your plans to support or say "thanks" to military veterans been hampered by:

• a shortage of time, money, resources or specialized expertise?
• not knowing where to start?
• uncertainty about what is needed, or who to approach?
• difficulty obtaining funds or donated materials?

Have you ever received a request for help or for a referral, but the "problem" didn't fit your group's mission or core competancies? Many good ideas never come to fruition due to logistical difficulties. Inspired by the old saying, "Many hands make light work", the Many Hands Alliance was formed to help military-oriented groups work smarter, not harder.

Hospital Lending Library

Are gently- or unused DVDs, electronic games, or CDs cluttering up your house? Why not donate them to help recovering soldiers and Marines at military hospitals pass the time? Being confined to a hospital bed for months on end can be boring. With your help, we'd like to create a lending libraries for burn patients at Brooke Army Medical Center. If the program is successful, we'd like to expand it to other military hospitals.

This would be a great project for Boy or Girl Scout troops, church youth groups, or other civic organizations who want to get involved but lack resources. Best of all, after you donate your unused DVD's, games and CDs you'll enjoy a clutter-free house while knowing you've helped to brighten the days and nights of military vets and their families living at the hospitals.
